Service Description: The data source for this image service is a Hillshade derived from a 10-meter DEM, clipped to the Wisconsin state outline plus a 15,000-meter buffer. The service was published using a referenced mosaic dataset to which the Hillshade function was applied, with a vertical exaggeration factor of 5. The Hillshade is intended for visualization of the landscape, rather than analysis. When queried, the Hillshade pixel values do not indicate elevation; instead, the pixel values range from 0 to 255 because the image is rendered as an 8-bit greyscale image. If elevation values are needed, use one of the DEM services found in the same service folder as the Hillshade_10m_WI_5x service. WI DNR acknowledges the USGS for making source data available.
