Description: This polygon feature class is a representation of the Great Lakes and their shorelines, including outlines of the states surrounding Wisconsin, as well as very small parts of New York, Ohio, and Canada. The dataset is strictly a cartographic layer intended only for small-scale display (nominally 1:250,000); the data is of unknown origin and source scale.In January 2018, GIS Section staff edited a portion of the Wisconsin boundary in the Wacouta Bay area at the North end of Lake Pepin to more accurately represent the Minnesota/Wisconsin state boundary, and to be more consistent with SDEDNR.EN_WI_STATE_BOUNDARY_AR_24K. In April, 2019, GIS Section staff changed all "Upper Michigan" values to "Michigan".
