This data layer is a polygon shapefile representing Municipal Boundaries in Wisconsin, obtained from WisDOT on August 2, 2011. Staff at WI DATCP and WI DNR made limited edits to the data to achieve consistency with Municipal Boundary data maintained at WI DOA. In this version of the data, county boundary lines are dissolved in cases where a municipality (or Minor Civil Division -- MCD) spans two or more counties. In other words, each MCD is represented as a single polygon or region feature. |
