Service Description: The WT_Wetlands_Plants_and_Habitat_WTM_Ext map service has been discontinued.
The Wisconsin Wetland Inventory (WWI) dataset is now contained in a secured map service that is no longer available through the public REST endpoint. All other layers are now contained in the following map service: WT_Wetlands_Plants_and_Habitat_WTM_Ext_v2.
The purpose of the secured map service is to prevent users from downloading (extracting) the WWI dataset or parts of it from DNR’s Geocortex web map applications, and potentially other applications. This follows from a mandate by the State Legislature to charge a fee for the WWI dataset as a means to recoup the costs of creating the Inventory.
Unfortunately, this means the service is no longer publicly available on our web server, even to users who previously streamed the layers as part of an ArcMap or ArcGIS Online project without ever extracting any of the data.
The WWI and other wetlands layers continue to be available in the Surface Water Data Viewer and other DNR web map applications. Additionally, you can purchase the WWI digital data for $15 per PLSS township ($5 for paper maps). More information about the WWI, including order forms and contact information, can be found here:
