Service Description: This version of the wetland service for the Wisconsin Wetland Inventory (WWI) displays data prepared using classic methods including the analysis of high altitude imagery in conjunction with soil surveys, topographic maps, previous wetland inventories and field work, as well as newer data captured using LiDAR and high-resolution imagery. The newer wetland and surface water features are mapped at a nominal scale of 1:2000 in order to meet or exceed the National Wetland Inventory (NWI) standards as set in FGDC’s Wetland Mapping Standard (2009) and “Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United States” (Cowardin et al. 2013) (https://www.fgdc.gov/standards/projects/wetlands/nwcs-2013).
