Description: This data layer is a polygon feature class representing Municipal Boundaries in Wisconsin, obtained from WisDOT on August 2, 2011. Staff at WI DATCP and WI DNR made limited edits to the data to achieve consistency with Municipal Boundary data maintained at WI DOA. In January 2013, DNR staff received an updated municipal boundaries file from the Walworth County Land Information Office. In February 2013, DNR staff used that file to add the new Village of Bloomfield in Walworth County to this statewide data layer, and to update the boundaries of several other Walworth County municipalities affected by the Village of Bloomfield incorporation. In this version of the data, county boundary lines are dissolved in cases where a municipality (or Minor Civil Division -- MCD) spans two or more counties. In other words, each MCD is represented as a single polygon or region feature.
